Disability and  Autism expertise and knowledge

Brackenridge has over 20 years’ experience in high and complex support requirements for intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Our highly skilled and innovative support teams assist people in planning a personally meaningful future, maximising their citizenship, and belonging to their communities of choice.

Person-directed care

We use evidence based outcome focused assessments to ensure our practice is designed to support people to live the life they choose. Our teams support people to develop self-determination over their choices and experiences. We believe the best relationships are formed when people’s strengths and abilities and beliefs are upheld and acknowledged.

We understand that all people should have choice and control over their own lives, support should be easy to use and available in a way that enhances the mana of the person, and that Brackenridge aims to make it easier for disabled people and their whānau to build strong relationships with the local community.

Brackenridge’s Practice Centre and Outcomes Framework

The Brackenridge Practice framework offers our workforce tools and insights for working alongside people with disabilities and their whanau to achieve the life they want. It’s aligned to our Outcomes framework and is predicated on the social model of disability support, positive psychology and behaviour support, active support, social role valorisation, and trauma informed practice.
